Stew is a western Colorado native of over 30 years. Born and raised in Delta County, Stew has stuck close to his roots. A graduate of Paonia High School, Stew migrated into the oil & gas industry out of high school where he learned the true value of hard work.

In 2016, Stew attended the Colorado Peace Officers Academy in Delta, CO. Upon completion, Stew was selected as a Police Officer for Paonia, Colorado. Early in his career, Stew volunteered and received training as a Firefighter for approximately three years, serving in Paonia and Cedaredge, CO. Stew received extensive experience and training while serving as a Firefighter to include wild-land firefighting and certified level 1 & 2 swift-water rescue.

Stew would later transfer to Cedaredge, Colorado where he joined the Cedaredge Police Department serving in multiple capacities. Durnig his tenure at Cedaredge Police, Stew climbed the ranks of Patrol Officer, Corporal, Field Training Officer and eventually attained Patrol Sergeant. While fulfilling multiple roles of responsibility, Stew volunteered and received training in a variety of disciplines such as:

• Colorado Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Investigation

• Instruction Methodology Program “Train the Trainer”

• The Reid Technique of Investigative Interviewing and Advanced Interrogation

• NHTSA Advanced Roadside Enforcement and the Front Line Leadership Institute.

 

 

 

 

Throughout his law enforcement career, Stew accepted and trained in instructor roles such as OC Aerosol Devices, Less Lethal Impact Munitions, Chemical Munitions, and Distraction Devices Instructor, Standard Field Sobriety Testing Instructor, and Federal Bureau of Investigations Defensive Tactics and Arrest Control Instructor.

Stew founded High Mesa Protection Services in July of 2020. Initially, High Mesa Protection Services provided security services at small events and conducted house checks throughout Delta County, CO. Stew worked diligently to expand High Mesa Protection Services to where it is today providing security services at hospitals and medical facilities, large special events and more.
